Subsequently acquired other important businesses such as Marconi in 1946 and D Napier & Son Ltd, aero engine manufacturers, in 1942. Built up aircraft interests between 1939-45, establishing English Electric Aviation Ltd in 1958 which built military aircraft. Established a computer business with J Lyons & Co Ltd in 1963. Aircraft interests merged in 1960 to form British Aircraft Corp Ltd. 1968 acquired by GEC Ltd
