Comprises the first in a planned series of 'Archive Reports' based on the extensive archives from the Derby Porcelain Manufactory. This volume covers the work of the manufactory's modellers, most notably William John Coffee, 1773-c1846. The extracts are largely taken from the letters, 1786-96, sent to William Duesbury, 1763-96, the factory's proprietor, by the manager of its London warehouse, Joseph Lygo. There are also transcriptions of papers relating to a 1819 lawsuit
