Official history commissioned from a former Chairman [1947-66], Sir Julian Crossley, on whose death it was substantially completed by a former editor of the bank's staff magazine. Part 1, to the late 1940s, was written by Crossley and Part 2 to 1970s was written by Blandford. Narrative history drawing much on recollections of longstanding staff. Appendices include financial analysis, 1926-71, and short profiles of links with countries where bank had a presence
