The 'Far North Line' is a modern-day term / brand name for the 168 mile railway line linking Inverness with Wick and Thurso. It was built largely by the Highland Railway Co and was completed in the 1870s. Subsequently part of London Midland & Scottish Railway, British Railways and ScotRail. Focuses especially on attempts to close the line from the 1930s onwards but notably in the British Railways era under Dr Beeching
