Deals with the history of 'investment companies' in the USA from their initiation in the 1920s to the present day but with some coverage of the industry in the UK which predated the USA industry. Has two chapters covering the UK - 'Our British ancestors' [pp1-13] dealing with the UK industry from the mid 19th century and 'British trusts today' [pp131-50] dealing with the industry in the 1950s with sections including: characteristics, costs, publicity, managers, regulation , taxation, size, etc. The latter includes a schedule of investment trusts grouped by management company, giving a total valuation for each trust
