Based on a Cambridge doctoral thesis [1955]. Deals with British trade with Norway [Denmark] re timber imports and Sweden re iron imports and also re pitch and tar. Britain's trade relations with these countries in the context of the strategic nature of these imports for naval use, analysing commercial treaties and legislation and attempts at import substitution.
