Largely comprises a transcription of his account book covering 1538 to 1550; it was one in a series, the others having not survived. Details his business transactions, and through these his merchanting, etc, business activities. A lengthy introduction [pp1-29] covers his life [in so far as it is known], his activities in the cloth trade, his family, his imports and exports, his ship - the 'Trinity', his land and wealth, his civic duties, his apprentices, etc. Also says much about Bristol especially as a distribution centre based, inter alia, on inland navigation. The introduction also considers the ledger from an account keeping perspective
