Scholarly work 'written primarily as a contribution to the study of management history and the role of people within it, of which Urwick himself was one of the first and most influential exponents'. The work is based on an initial manuscript of Edward Brech, sometime personal assistant to Urwick, who died in 2006, which was shortened for publication.
