Formerly published in installments in the 'Waltham Abbey Telegraph'. Published on the centenary of the acquisition of the mills by the British government. Has sections 'English works on the manufacture of gunpowder' and 'An account of the Gunpowder Works from 1783 to 1811 by Sir William Congreve'. Largely comprises notes of events, taken from correspondence held at the Factory, 1787-1855, especially re explosions [pp27-111].
