Established in 1885 as Boston Deep Sea Fishing & Ice Co Ltd to build and operate a trawling fleet. Opened at Hull and soon after moved to Boston before relocating to Fleetwood and Grimsby in 1920s. From 1924, under control of Fred Parkes, emerged as largest privately owned trawler fleet in world with a presence at Fleetwood, Hull, Grimsby, Penzance and Lowestoft, sometimes acquired through acquisition of existing businesses. Reconstructed as Boston Deep Sea Fisheries Ltd c1930s and as Boston Fishing Group Holdings Ltd in 1960s. Withdrew from fishing 1979 and acquired by North British Maritime Group Ltd in 1983. Latterly managed by Sir Basil Parkes who was also president of British Trawler Federation
