Traces origins to 1877 when the USA based railway brake manufacturing business of George Westinghouse set up a small sales and production business at Liverpool. Soon relocated to London and developed a large works at Kings Cross. 1881 incorporated as Westinghouse Brake Co Ltd and subsequently emerged as a major supplier. Later known as Westinghouse Brake & Saxby Signal Co Ltd in 1920 following merger with other railway signalling and braking equipment businesses including Consolidated Signal Co Ltd, Saxby & Farmer and McKenzie Holland. 1935 renamed Westinghouse Brake & Signal Co Ltd. Sometime acquired by Hawker Siddeley Ltd and in 1992 acquired by BTR Plc which in 1999 became Invensys Plc
