This lead deposit had been discovered by Bewick and developed by him initially (from 1873) via Honeycrook Lead Mining Co Ltd. Also established a smelter at Hebburn. Highly productive mine but in difficulties from early 1890s and closed 1893. Bewick & Partners wound up 1897
