Notes:

Traced origins to 1834 when established by George Scott in Whitechapel. Initially made sugar refining machinery, acting as engineers to London refiners, but also made equipment for other industries such as brewing, soap making, paint making, etc. From 1892 connected with Ernest Scott, consulting engineers at Liverpool which was incorporated 1908. 1918 moved plant to Silvertown and in 1934 relocated it to Leven, Fife, following merger of George Scott & Son (London) Ltd, Ernest Scott & Co Ltd and Henry Balfour & Co Ltd of Leven in 1933. Design office remained in London. Noted for process engineering, especially for chemical industry
