Established by 'Lord' George Sanger, c1825-1911, with his brother, John, in c1840s. Emerged as leading circus operators, with premises, inter alia, at Liverpool by 1854. 1871 acquired Astley's Amphitheatre, London, which had originally been established by Philip Astley in 1769. Partnership ended 1884 with George continuing until c1905
