Established in 1921 by Lionel Rapson, 1888-1933, to manufacture innovative motor vehicle tyres. Rapson, a prolific inventor of motor vehicle parts - especially tyres, jacks and headlights - had formerly, with others, established Rapson Automotive Patents Ltd (closed 1922) to exploit them. Production based at New Malden but closed in 1925 when production transferred to North British Rubber Co Ltd, Edinburgh. In difficulties and closed 1931. Sometime also operated as F Lionel Rapson Ltd. Largely financed by private investor and friend, Dora Schintz of Liverpool
