John U Rastrick, 1780-1856, was in business as a manufacturer of metal products and locomotives and subsequently was a consulting civil engineer much concerned with railways. Son of John Rastrick, 1695-1772, millwright and engineer of Morpeth. 1807-17 in partnership with John Hazeldine at Bridgenorth sometime trading as Hazeldine, Rastrick & Co, builders of steam engines. Between 1819-31 partnered James Foster in Foster, Rastrick & Co making metal making machinery, etc, and locomotives. From 1831 worked as a consulting civil engineer
