From c1820s his sons began to develop the business, each taking over a particular function. From these developed E T Bellhouse & Co, engineers and ironfounders which made a wide range of machinery and prefabricated iron buildings; John & William Bellhouse Ltd, timber merchants; and James & Wainwright Bellhouse Ltd, cotton spinners.
