Traces origins to 1806 when James Poole, d1845, established a draper's shop near Brunswick Sq in London's West End. By 1815 working as a military tailor. James's son, Henry, d1876, succeeded to the business in 1845. Emerged as a leading tailor's business ob Savile Row by 1900, serving heads of state and with branches in Paris, Vienna and Berlin. By then largest bespoke tailor's business in world. Subsequently incorporated as Henry Poole & Son Ltd. Continues in 2012 as a family business
