Traced origins to 1965 when established as Applied Computer Techniques Ltd at Edgbaston, Birmingham, by Roger Foster, b1940, and others including Lindsay Bury, to develop software packages and provide computer processing services [computer bureaux] for small businesses. Developed a specialisation in software for financial services industry. Late 1970s converted to a public company. Early 1980s developed and manufactured the Apricot personal computer at Glenrothes, Scotland. 1990 sold this hardware business to Mitsubishi. By 1990s a leading European independent software house. 1995 merged with Misys Plc [2023]
