From 18th century let to tenants by Holden, then Hargreaves, then Peel families. 1847 sold by Peel family to their tenant, Edmund Hepple, miller, who had run the mill as tenant since 1829. By 1839 steam powered. 1863 let by trustees of Emund Hepple to Joseph Appleby & Sons who also had a mill at Clayton le Moors. 1867 destroyed by fire and rebuilt on larger scale and leased by George Ward and William Herald. 1885 abandoned when they built a new roller mill close by
