Subsequently known as McOnie & Mirrlees and, after other renamings, as Mirrlees Watson & Co Ltd in 1898 when started engine manufacture. Out of this was formed in 1908 Mirrlees Bickerton & Day Ltd to focus on diesel engine production at a new works at Hazel Grove. After 1945 merged with others to form Associated British Oil Engines Ltd which was acquired by Hawker Siddeley Group in 1961 when MBDL merged with National Gas & Oil Engine Co Ltd to form Mirrlees National Ltd. Subsequently known as Mirrlees Blackstone Ltd
