Traced origins to 1896 when established to effect the merger of Manchester Shipping Offices & Packing Co Ltd, Thomas Davenport & Co and Globe Packing & Shipping Co Ltd. 1890s other businesses absorbed at Manchester and Blackburn. Folded, packed, and despatched finished textile orders of cotton textile merchants as well as providing them with office accommodation in warehouse. Developed rapidly so that had 15 warehouses by 1923. Also diversified into container and packing materials, especially tarpaulin, manufacture from 1900. By 1960s known as Lloyds Packing Group when a mini-conglomerate with widespread industrial interests. 1966 acquired by Slater Walker Securities Ltd via Cope Allmann and asset stripped
