Traced origins to 1777 when established at Westminster by William Kent. Early on government contractors and from 1820s royal warrant holders. Made wide range of brushes - hair, tooth, clothes, paint, household, etc. Also sometime bristle merchants, ivory importers, comb wholesalers, etc. Incorporated as a public company, G B Kent & Sons Ltd, in 1900. Built factory at Victoria Park in 1875 and a very large works at Apsley End, Hertfordshire, in 1901. Controlled by Crosby Brushes Ltd from 1932. Continues
