Traces origins to c1734 when established by Robert Jones started to supply Inns of Court with stationery, etc. 1760 business transferred to William Jones and Francis Yerrall (sic) and renamed Jones & Yarrell (sic). By 1808 referred to as stationers, booksellers and newsmen. 1830s royal warrant holders. Only ever had two stores, both in West End. Grew rapidly from end of 19th century when leading suppliers of newspapers and periodicals to West End addresses. Incorporated 1946. 1956 acquired May & Williams. 1970 acquired by John Menzies Ltd. Continues
