Traced origins to 1856 when established by Robert Jenkins, 1828-1910, and James Tapp as boiler makers and makers of other structural products. Traded as Jenkins & Tapp until dissolved in 1859 and from 1870 as Robert Jenkins & Co. Made boilers for steam engines but especially domestic boilers for hot water heating in which noted for innovative welding practices. Incorporated 1917. Reconstructed 1920. Established a motor sales business which in 1925 was hived off into Rotherham Motor Co Ltd. From 1930s diversified to manufacture of chemical process plant and other fabrication work, eg for food industry. Post 1970s focused as much on design as manufacture . 1969 reorganised under Robert Jenkins (Holdings) Ltd. ?closed 1980s
