Notes:

Established 1875 by Edmund Hull, foreign coal contractor, and known as Hull Blyth from 1877 when joined by William Blyth. Established chain of coaling stations around the world for steamship bunkering and otherwise acted as contractors at other ports. Owned small tramp ship fleet, 1906-12. Incorporated 1919 when major interests taken by leading UK shipping companies, especially Union Castle Mail Steamship Co Ltd and Elder Dempster & Co Ltd. In due course controlled by Lord Kylsant of Royal Mail Group. Established an oil business in 1926. Developed subsidiary companies in local ports or otherwise acquired local businesses. In difficulties early 1930s when reconstructed with several new corporate shareholders including Wiliiam Cory & Son Ltd. After 1945 diversified into general ship agency work. 1978, when in decline, acquired by Ocean Transport & Trading Co Ltd.
