Traced origins as printers of stationery, publicity material, cheques, etc. Established by Hudson Scott. 1876 started to print on tinplate and emerged as leading manufacturers of decorative boxes. Supplied in particular Carr & Co, biscuit makers, of Carlisle. 1921 merged with Barclay & Fry Ltd, F Atkins & Co Ltd and Henry Grant & Co Ltd to form Allied Tin Box Makers Ltd which in 1922 was renamed Metal Box & Printing Industries Ltd. Continued to trade under original name for many years
