Traced origins to the 1845 partnership of Francis Hogg and Augustus O Robinson, insurance brokers and merchants, especially in wine. In 20th century non marine broking came to fore. 1910 merged with Charles E W Austin, Lloyd's brokers, and in c1930 with E Capel Cure & Co, marine brokers, to become Hogg Robinson & Capel Cure. 1930s entered credit insurance followed by life insurance. 1966 merged with leading brokers Gardner Mountain D'Ambrumenil & Rennie and Staple Green when known as Staple Green, a public company. Late 1960s name changed to Hogg Robinson. Subsequently disposed of insurance interests and emerged as a major international travel business
