Heap formerly worked for contractors William Evans of Cambridge and Peto Brassey & Betts. Acted as agents for iron and steel and engineering businesses in sale of their goods. In particular did much business with Canada. 1866 renamed Wm Heap & Co and incorporated 1915 as Wm Heap & Co Ltd. c1920s renamed Heap & Partners Ltd. Latterly focused on agencies for engineering businesses
