Traced origins to John Aynsley who established the business in 1775 at Longton, then known as Lane End. Early on specialised in making beer and cider mugs. Later owned by James Aynsley, subsequently by John Aynsley, etc. From late 19th century traded as John Aynsley & Sons. 1933 incorporated and converted to public company in 1948. 1970 acquired by Waterford Glass and renamed Aynsley China Ltd. 1987 acquired by management and in 1997 acquired by Belleek Pottery
