Traced origins to 1840s when established by Charles T Halsted, 1823-91, as ironmongers also engaged in associated trades such as coppersmiths, tinplate workers, whitesmiths, iron and brass founders, etc. Early on produced, inter alia, faming implements. By 1900 described as kitchen range manufacturers and hot and cold water engineers. Manufacturing business closed c1933 and ironmongery shop in 1936
