Notes:

Traces origins to William Greener, 1806-69 who established himself as a gunmaker at Newcastle upon Tyne in 1844. Shortly afterwards moved to Birmingham and in 1846 established a London agency. Early on made harpoon guns for whaling but emerged as a leading gunmaker. Succeeded in business in 1869 by his son, W W Greener, d1921, the business then being renamed W W Greener. Opened London branch 1878 and another at Hull between 1900-14. Incorporated as W W Greener Ltd 1920. 1965 acquired by Webley & Scott Ltd. 1985 name revived and continues as W W Greener Sporting Guns Ltd
