Notes:

Established as the Graviner Manufacturing Co Ltd in 1933 by Anders Mathisen, d1973, and Hubert M Salmond to develop and manufacture fire protection/extinguishing systems especially for aircraft. In this worked closely with Wilkinson Sword Ltd who early on undertook the firm's manufacturing at Acton and established a long term connection. 1940 relocated to Colnbrook, near Gosport to obtain capacity for RAF wartime orders. From 1940s developed a business manufacturing safety equipment for nuclear power stations. Early 1970s Wilkinsons acquired fire protection business and the safety equipment business carried on under new name of Gravatom Ltd. From early on Mathisen also operated a patent agency, known from 1954 as Mathisen & Macara, later Mathisen, Macara & Co Ltd. London based
