Traced origins to Deasy Motor Car Manufacturing Co Ltd of Coventry, a manufacturer of luxury cars which was revived by J D Siddeley from 1910. From 1912 known as Siddeley Deasy Motor Car Co. 1912 established Stoneleigh Motors Ltd, a manufacturer of light cars in order to extend its range. Diversified into aircraft and aero engine manufacture in First World War. Acquired in 1919 by Sir W G Armstrong Whitworth & Co Ltd of Newcastle, which already made motor cars, and renamed Armstrong Siddeley Motors Ltd. Made luxury cars and had works at Parkside, Coventry. 1927 bought out, along with AW aero engine business, by Siddeley who subsequently sold out to interests associated with Hawker Aircraft Ltd and subsumed into the newly formed Hawker Siddeley Aircraft Co Ltd. Armstrong Siddeley was subsequently merged with Bristol Aero Engines to form Bristol Siddeley which in turn merged with Rolls-Royce in 1966. Motor car production stopped c1960
