Traced origins to Peter Eadie, 1837-1919, who in 1871 started to make at Paisley a new form of rings/travellers for use in cotton yarn production. 1872, with his brothers, Robert and John, formed Eadie Bros & Co. Incorporated 1904 as Eadie Bros & Co Ltd in association with E Jenckes & Co of Preston, and reorganised in 1966 under Eadie Bros (Holdings) Ltd. 1970 acquired Winterbottom (Wiredrawers) Ltd of Oxspring, Sheffield. Subsequently connected with Kanai Group of Japan as Eadie & Kanai Co Ltd
