Established 1899 by (Sir) Alexander Duckham, 1877-1945, as an analytical chemist at Millwall, London, advising business and government on technical matters re oil. 1902 called the business Alexander Duckham & Co when blending and selling lubricating oils. Established Trinidad Central Oilfields Co Ltd, later Tricentrol, marketing its products. Soon diversified into production at Millwall of specialist oils/lubricants such as grease, cutting tool oil, petroleum jellies, concrete mould oil, type mould oil, cleansers, etc. Supplied in particular motor and aircraft industries. Early 1920s relocated to Hammersmith, later also Fulham. Operated own cooperage. 1969 acquired by BP but continued to trade separately although increasingly focused on sales and marketing
