Notes:

Robert Dollar, 1844-1932, was Scottish by birth but emmigrated to North America in 1870s where he established timber growing, sawing and exporting interests, initially in Canada and, in 1880s, at Michigan then San Francisco. At the latter, he developed a major presence in the Pacific timber trade. From 1895 established shipping interests initially in support of his timber business and these grew substantially after 1918.
