Notes:

Had ancient origins but developed especially from the mid 18th century as a copper mine. For long leased from Bassett family, later Lords Dunstanville. Ceased operations 1790 but reopened with great success from 1799 by group of investors , ?trading as Cost Book Co, initially led by Andrew Vivian. Emerged as a very large and profitable mine. Copper reserves exhausted by 1846 when developed as a tin mine, becoming the largest in the world. Reorganised 1895 as Dolcoath Ltd which continued until 1921 when mine closed
