Established in 1864 by Morrice Cox & Clarke of London. Sold to Hill Garton & Co of Southampton in c1871 who developed it into one of the largest and most up to date breweries in the country. First brewery to make lager beer in UK which it sold nationally and overseas. Associated with T P Griffin & Co, London, bottlers and beer exporters, etc. Renamed Anglo Brewery on account of First World War. Ceased brewing c1921 but revived between 1934 and 1939
