Traced origins to John Crossley, 1772-1837, who, with his brothers, established a carpet making business at Dean Clough Mills in 1802. From c1822 operated on his own account and emerged as a world leading carpet making business. Succeeded by his sons who incorporated the business in 1864 as John Crossley & Sons Ltd. By then also had a factory at Kidderminster and warehouses in London and Manchester. 1953 merged with Carpet Trades UK Ltd of Kidderminster to form John Crossley & Carpet Trades Holdings Ltd. 1969 subsumed into Carpets International Ltd
