Traced origins to 1914 when established in Kingsway, London, by (Sir) William Crawford, 1878-1950, who led the business until shortly before his death. One of its first clients was W H Smith. Developed as the first modern UK advertising agency with early international interests, having established offices in Paris and Berlin. Employed noted designers such as Ashley Havinden. 1920s worked for, inter alia, US businesses operating in UK as well as UK brand leaders, and in 1930s and 40s for public bodies such as the Empire Marketing Board and the Post Office. By 1950 had 37 offices around world. 1967 merged with Dorland Advertising
