Initially made cars but very soon focused on making car engines. 1917 renamed Coventry Climax and in 1930s diversified into electric generators and water pumps, especially for fire engines. Post 1945 focused on marine engines, water pumps and folk lift trucks, making the UK's first in 1946, as well as high performance engines for specialist vehicles and sports/racing cars. 1963 acquired by Jaguar Cars Ltd and in due course part of British Leyland Motor Corp. Thereafter its components were sold off individually
