In c1883 Fell Christy, his son Frank and James Norris established Christy, Son & Norris, electrical and milling engineers. Dissolved 1891 and carried on as Christy Bros, later Christy Brothers & Middleton. Incorporated c1906 as Christy Brothers & Co Ltd. c1933 public company as Christy Bros Ltd. Frank had formerly worked for Crompton & Co Ltd of Chelmsford. Initially installed electric lighting in industrial plant but by 1900 providing electricity supply for towns and villages such as Frinton, Tadcaster, Bude, etc, but notably in the West Country. Notably in the interwar years to nationalisation in 1948 established very substantial electricity generation and supply activities
