Notes:
John Brunton, 1812-99, was a civil engineer who in his early career worked for, inter alia, Hutchinson & Ritson, railway contractors in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire; T K Brunel in the erection of hospitals in the Crimea; etc. Subsequently worked in India as Chief Resident Engineer of the Scinde Railway. 1860s returned to Britain and in c1870 established himself as a consulting civil engineer with his son, with offices in Westminster.
