Traced origins to William Bedford,1858-1936, who with his brother, Albert, and Arthur Dwight, a farmer, started watercress growing in 1890s. c1920s Jesty family joined business and by 1932 had 132 employees working on 30 acres. 1924 introduced trade mark 'Sylvasprings'. Continued in ownership of Jesty family post 1945 and by 1990s became Watercress Co which continues in 2018
