Notes:

First mooted in 1920s in the context of rapid expansion of the electricity generating industry post 1918 which emphasized the need by the industry to have agreement on general trading principles. Then a 'Conference of Associations' was held which resulted in formation of a statutory committee of supply authorities, contractors, manufacturers and suppliers of fittings. Out of this the Fair Trading Council emerged in 1933 and continued into 1950s with redefined terms following nationalisation of the industry .
