Notes:

Established by Harold Wood, 1900-52, in early 1930s at Spencers Wood, south of Reading, as haulage contractors moving in particular timber. Developed a saw mill as part of this business. Grew to be a substantial business operating nationally. Also had other interests such as furniture removal and the development and operation of miniature railways as tourist attractions. The latter started in 1944 with a miniature railway by the Thames near Reading and another was on South Coast. Business in liquidation following Judd's death in 1952
