Notes:

Traced origins to Caper Pass sometime of Walsall and by 1808 a metal refiner and brass caster at Birmingham. c1815 moved to Bristol where, certainly by 1836, in business as a metal refiner and dealer. Probably then focused on recovery of silver and gold from redundant objects. 1840 relocated to Bedminster when focused on lead and copper ore. By 1860s recovering brass and zinc from scrap. 1866 renamed Capper Pass & Son when started refining of solder/tin alloy which soon became firm's major product although a wide range of other metals were also processed. 1894 incorporated. Late 1930s opened second plant at Melton, near Hull. From 1940s acquired other UK solder making businesses.1967 acquired by Rio Tinto Zinc
