Traced origins to 1856 when the architect, Richard Kyrke Penson, 1815-85, took a lease on land at Llandybie and developed a limestone quarry and limeburning works. He designed the notable kilns. His widow subsequently operated the works in partnership with F G Southern. 1906 merged with a local competitor to form Lime Firms Ltd
