Traced origins to William Bond, d1843, and attorney at Lichfield, who in 1795 started tape manufacture at Yoxall, Staffordshire. 1843 relocated to Alrewas when business owned by his three sons. In 1865 one son, Morton, 1800-89, acquired Hanging Bridge Mills, Ashbourne, and his business, subsequently known as M Bond & Co. Passed to his son and grandsons. In 1972 it merged with John Bowmer & Son, established at Wirksworth, Derbyshire, in 1866 by John Bowmer, to form Bowmer Bond Narrow Fabrics Ltd
